the next City Ritual is Mabon - the autumn equinox

Friday 18th September 7pm-9.30pm

upcoming dates ….

Samhain 30th October / Yule 18th December

I offer this Dragon Dance City Ritual as a ceremonial space for each of us to participate in something rich and full of mischevious intensity together.

We’ll be intentional and move between worlds, beyond the intellectually dominated spaces, into something more mysterious and powerful.

What is Mabon?

Mabon marks the biggest harvest of the year, the yeild of the season of summer. It’s a really great time to ask yourself, where have I been, what has touched me, what has shaped my mind, heart and body?

After the season of fire, heat and long days, we travel back inwards and begin preparing for the desent of winter, but we don’t rush through the portal of autumn, there’s always more time than you think if you’re able to be present.

Some might consider the seasons only as metaphors and intellectual foder or poetic license, or you can observe them as real points of reference and inspiration to lead you back to your own nature and creative cycles, beyond the illusion of security that humans look for in the roles we play and in control, prefences, opinions and stories.

The practice of looking backwards and inquring into where you have been (highs and lows) helps to understand better the way your perspective is shaped by the world around you and the experiecnes you have. We work with the unconscious belief systems, the things we can’t usually see unless we choose to go looking. The ritual supports this extra-ordinary quality of sight because its rooted in permission, love, forgiveness and genuine curiosity. It’s you, but it’s also so much bigger, older and wiser than you are on your own. The cycles and the practice are held by the collective.

What is the Dragon Dance?

A steamy practice that stimulates the physical and energetic bodies with in you. The movements come from practices like Vinyasa and Qi Gong, and the sequence of postures brings everything back into motion and flow. It also challenges concetration through many loops of repetition, balance and coordination, strength, endurance and surrender.

What is ritual?

A particular invitation to unify the mental, emotional, spiritual and material layers of the body, through a special state of awareness and connection. A Ritual is a spiritual practice, performed through the body, intended to bring you into relation with mystery, trust, receptivity and a sense of being beautifully taken care of by forces great and loving and interconnected. It’s a space you can go to, to remember your essence and access the deeply influencial subconscious spaces within you.

Ritual offers an extra-ordinary quality of existing, a expansion of consciousness, an activation of the energy body, a deepened sense of connection, within and without, and a shift in what is possible - if you are willing. The Dragon Dance, with it’s repetition, physicality and trance-like effects, supports these shifting states beautifully.

This is a celebration! Adorn, Decorate, Delight!

Colours: Red, Orange, Brown, Gold,

Offerings: your harvest, to place at the altar or to share with the group. Think seasonal and local and beautiful. Natural materials, precious items, genuine gifts to the elements and spirits.

I haven’t been to an Immersion before, can I join for this?

Yes, absolutely. The City Rituals are a gorgeous way to work a little deeper in your practice, as well as for us to build stronger connections amongst us.

We might practice often or occasionally with each other during the week, and still not really know who we are. At the City Ritual, unlike in the busy studio between classes, there is time and space to chat, relax and connect, and enjoy each others company and presence, along side the work.

I ‘m not sure if I want a spiritual practice, should I join?

It’s ok to feel sceptical, or unsure about this. So long as there is a part of you that’s curious enough to propose the question, you are welcome to be here and feed that part of you. All you need to do is practice being open and receptive, and make sure you hold the parts that might feel a bit protective, cautious, defensive or judgemental. I will gladly work with that pattern with people in my spaces, because I know the beauty of moving from control to trust, and I know it needs skillful guidance. We move at the pace of trust - which is s l o w. However, it is essential that you enter respectfully and responsibly. The teachings are the teachings, regardless of your preference.

I have 5 financial accessibility tickets available for anyone who needs it - email me!
