studios in berlin

I like to think of yoga studios as a kind of ‘embodiment laboratory’. They offer a testing ground where we try out practices that can later be applied in the real world. The beauty of this is that anything you observe in yourself whilst practicing, is there all of the time. How you show up to class is essentially how you show up anywhere else. Our studios have a special kind of interior design, they are deliberately bright, open spaces with very little to distract you so that you’re able to see yourself more clearly. They may have statues, images or dedicated areas devoted to spiritual symbols or beings, to encourage you to connect beyond yourself. In my opinion, these spaces are a luxury, they offer a refuge similar to taking a walk in the forest or gazing out to sea. We, the teachers and practitioners, are responsible for respectful use of these spaces, including how we treat ourselves and each other when we are there. It’s a beautiful airy space which was actually the very first room to be squatted in 1989 after the fall of the Berlin Wall by some of the very same people who live there today.
